Event Disclaimer and Liability Waiver

For Participation in the 828 Treasure Quest

By participating in the 828 Treasure Quest (“the Event”), which may include physical activities, field day games, and exploration throughout the town of Franklin, NC, all participants (and parents/guardians of minor participants) acknowledge and agree to the following:

  1. Assumption of Risk: I understand that participation in the Event involves physical exertion and travel across varied terrains and public spaces, which may include running, walking, lifting, or other physical activities. I knowingly and voluntarily assume all risks, including but not limited to falls, collisions, weather-related hazards, vehicle or pedestrian traffic, or other unforeseen incidents. 
  2. Waiver and Release of Liability: I hereby waive, release, and discharge the town of Franklin, NC, its officials, employees, volunteers, event organizers, sponsors,  Macon County Rec Park, KIDS Place, its volunteers and affiliates and any other affiliated individuals or entities from any and all claims, liabilities, demands, or causes of action that may arise from my participation in the Event, including but not limited to personal injury, property damage, or death, whether caused by negligence or otherwise. 
  3. Medical Fitness: I certify that I (or my child/dependent) am physically able to participate in the Event and that I have not been advised otherwise by a qualified medical professional. 
  4. Supervision of Minors: I understand that all children under [age, e.g., 12] must be accompanied by a responsible adult throughout the duration of the Event. Event organizers are not responsible for supervising minors. 
  5. Use of Public and Private Property: I understand that the Event may take place in public spaces and may involve passage near or through private property with permission. I agree to be respectful of all property and to follow all applicable laws and guidelines. 
  6. Photographic Release: I grant permission for photos or videos taken during the Event to be used for promotional or reporting purposes by the organizers or the town, without compensation. 

By signing below (or by participation in the Event where no signature is required), I acknowledge that I have read, understood, and voluntarily accept the terms of this waiver and release of liability.
